"Sup "The Root" Richard Ivory here again sorry for the delay in some post I have been having trouble getting in and out of my account.
It is about 3:30 now and we are finishing up an interview with Black Enterprise Magazine's Marcia A. Wade who questioned us regarding the overall feel of the Convention and why we were supporting McCain over Obama. The interview was very fair and we were able to explain to them know why we are truly "HipHopRepublicans". We tried to explain that our message was about finding alternatives to urban problems and about moving our communities to personal empowerment. Being here I have asked Republicans many questions relating to race and most it would seem know the party has to do more.
Despite my walking and blogging in this sea of white faces I do not see racism but actual opportunity and a chance to grow a party while making it more palatable to urban issues. In some way I feel what we young black Republicans are doing today will impact the party in years to come.
I and others are willing to take on the names but in the end of the day being here was worth it. I have made many contacts and spoken to many influential people from the likes of Orin Hatch to policy people from the Heritage Foundation. I have watched black journalist and white Republicans talk about race openly and then have a beer. I have seen young Republicans embrace Claudio and I as if we had known them for years.
Today I did not feel like a "black" Republican but a Republican.
