Sept 2 - Access Problems and Anticipation

lnl2002

Hey readers of The Root - its Richard Ivory grabbing the mic to kick out some fly Republican updates from this convention. Right now I am sitting at the very top of the stadium with my laptop trying to search for wireless outlets. I am the only brotha in the room right about now. That is until Lenny comes back.. Okay all joking aside let me tell you what they heck I am seeing and doing.

So I am hearing that a lot of Republican bloggers are a bit upset with there seating some say they are not able to get wireless.  They are not complaining about where they are seated but the inability to hear what is being said and the wireless issue. The Republican National Committee put us where the big boys are but we don't have big boy cash. I am being told that CNN & Fox News are paying something like 8,000 bucks for wireless service. Can you believe that 8,000 bucks for freaking wireless service? Anyway, there is the argument that if "we bloggers" want to hang with the big boys we ought to pay like them. Of course this is an argument I totally reject.

I am sitting up   the kick off of The 2008 Republican National Convention has begun and the RNC has just today announced the full program of events for Wednesday, Sept. 3. The evening's program will feature remarks by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Party's nominee for vice president. I am also hoping that she will speak a little regarding her daughter's situation and how her family is dealing with this. A personal story is what people are looking for at this convention and she is best prepared than any person to give it.

Well that is what happens when you roll with the RNC.  If you don't pay, you don't play.

Well we all know the outcome of Palin's speech fell below what you wanted of her.  She did not really address the family situation at all.  Her right to respect the privacy of her daughter, but I just hopes that she respects other women's privacy and not try to destroy Woe v Rade if she gets into office.  She also belittled the community organizing experience of Obama.  In doing so, she belitted the community organizing of other people that helped African Americans and women gain the right to vote (can you say MLK, Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hammer, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott), not to mention the community organizing of Thomas Paine that galvinized the colonies to revolt against England.  Palin sold fear, hatred, and sarcasism last night and I was appalled.  While I waited for a solution to the health care crisis in her speech, all I heard was snark and condescencion.  Considering how nice Obama has been in not going after her family, I would have expected a little more respect.  Dems respected McCain during their convention.  This is why for many years I have not liked Republicans. They appear to be mean-spirited and selfish.  I was hoping for something else this year--a little civility.  I guess that is out the window.
