King vs. King

izraelj

I think we’ve all known it was just a matter of time before the children of Drs. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King began to fight over the estate of the late civil rights leader. Nothing like a dead relation and a lot of money to make even the most sophisticated, dignified people get all Soul Food.

Bernice King and Martin Luther King III are suing Dexter King, saying he took "substantial funds" out of Coretta Scott King's estate and "wrongfully appropriated" money from Dad’s coffers for personal gain.  Dexter denies the charges, but it’s hard to know where the beef is in this case. After all, if they are all Kings, aren’t they all entitled to part of the inheritance? What, he can’t take out some of his father’s money? Who says? Granted, maybe Dexter took more than his fair share, but you’d think the Kings could work it out without lawyering up.

Does anyone else think this is a case for Judge Mathis?

Judge Mathis with Judge Hatchett in tow.   Dr. Bernice King has even done some "counseling" for some of the kids on Judge Hatchett's show.

If that doesn't work some time on Montel with Sylvia Browne might help them have a little talk with their dearly departed parents....

They look like greedy spoiled children to me...

Every dime of that money should go in a fund for the up lifting of the black community!  Dr. King would not want that money in some lawyer's pocket!  What's the best way to spend continue the King dream?

The last thing they need is one of these moron TV "judges".

I wish I could say that I'm shocked and surprised, but the fact is, you can NEVER underestimate the power of greed.  It is tragically sad what people, especially family, will do to one another when money is involved.

The Kings are no different than any other family. People often loose their mind with greed when a loved one dies. It happens daily and the only reason that this is news is because it is happening with the King family. Really there is more important things going on in the world than this ridiculous family drama.

Couldn't agree more with womanistmusings.  All any of them have done is live off the legacy of Dr. King.  Get a real job!  Let this story give way to real news.

I think they should donate a significant portion of the money to establishing a fund that would restore The King Center in Atlanta. For the historic institution that it is, it's one of the worst looking and -maintained national/historical monuments that I've ever seen. (It only seems to get "spruced" up every January for the annual ecumenical service.)

It's sad that family will fight for money.  But sometimes it's better that a responsible ( or in this case two) sibling(s) block an irresponsible sibling from making unwise descisions with shared money.

They're not really fighting over the money i don't suppose just trying to protect all of their nesteggs.

(in my casual tone)  Now pops probably wanted his money going to charity and to continue the movement toward equality. still i don't seen nothing wrong with "dex" taking a small chunk of that pie either,  the civil rights movement's  over, King Jr.'s dead,  so "dex" my retarded sibling  when you're taking money from your pops without permission,  do you

A) steal in small unnoticeable quantities

B) steal in large quantities start buying bundles of candy(e.g. sudden stock's and bonds)

C) buy/ invest at a pace palatable to onlookers who know your "allowance" /income.

D) a,and c.

Too funny snapdiva.  I'll bet Slyvia is chomping at the bit.

To think...these are the offspring of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr...one of the greatest civil rights leaders to ever walk the face of the earth...what a disgrace.
